The competition with Disney means that Universal gives plenty of hip originality and a saucy, sassy personality to its rides, as in Back to the Future, the simulator ride to end all simulator rides, and the longtime special-effects star among theme-park rides -- Terminator 2 3-D, which combines a spectacular 3-D film, live Arnold look-alikes whizzing around on bruiser Harley-Davidsons, bone-chilling fog, and more. At the opposite end of the thrill spectrum, A Day in the Park with Barney is a boppin' musical revue and a hands-on educational playground.
